One Step Ahead

We believe that the eradication of human trafficking is possible. And we know that empowering + employing survivors is one of the key ways that we can stop the vicious cycle of trafficking + exploitation.

But in order to truly solve this pervasive problem, we know we have to get ahead of the issue, which is why our team is committed to providing Prevention Education + raising awareness in our community.

MBF Child Safety Matters® + The Prevention Project™

We believe in sponsoring prevention education programs for K-5th, middle school, + high school students because:

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 years), are common risk factors for child sex trafficking sourcesource
  • in a typical classroom of 30 students, approximately 24 will face at least one form of trauma or victimization source
  • the average age a person is first trafficked is 12 years old source
  • Child Trafficking happens in all 50 states source

The Curriculum

  • Students raising their hands in a classroom setting

MBF Child Safety Matters® is a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum for elementary school students in grades K-5.  The 2 lesson program educates + empowers children with information + strategies to prevent, recognize, + respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, all types of abuse, + digital abuse dangers.

  • Freekind's Prevention Project™ program was born out of a desire to prevent trafficking by EMPOWERING youth to protect themselves and others through EDUCATION and by EQUIPPING the next generation of leaders to build safer communities!

The 2 lesson middle school curriculum reaches youth amidst a vulnerable stage of life to educate them about traffickers’ tactics, how to stay safe when using technology, and how to safely come forward if something has happened to them or someone around them.

The 6 lesson high school curriculum educates young people about the lures of trafficking and invests in character and leadership development.  It exists to not only prevent trafficking from occurring, but also to create and equip student leaders to be a part of the solution, bringing lasting change for our communities and beyond.
